24e

Recent events in my life have brought me in contact with a company, here in Savannah, GA, called 24e. They are a family owned interior design store with great products and the best service you could ask for. I had applied the
re at the beginning of the summer hoping to eventually be provided with some sort of an opportunity to work for them. The timing was totally God. I got a call about a month ago from them offering me and internship with their company.
Today was my first day and it went great! I am so excited about the connections that I will be able to make through this internship and also just the things that I will be able learn from them :)

For those of you in Savannah, we have an event this Wednesday (Nov. 2nd) to introduce our new Italian line. It starts at 7. Free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. It will be a lot of fun and a great time to check out 24e!

Salt And Light

in all our graceful words
without love
they're just a burden from our tongues
the taste remains and without faith
we're still and arms length away
but somehow we're burning brighter
you'll never be more beautiful than today
whole-hearted we're open
our madness silent
cause we know when you come
you come in love

cause love is all we need
i came here with nothing
but i left with everything
and all the truth you bring
still i came here with nothing
but I left with everything

to be honest
we're older
and life makes us stand in disbelief
are you who you want to be
i've learned that its ok
to be broken at your feet
and its where i wanna be

cause love is all we need
i came here with nothing
but i left with everything
and all the truth you bring
still i came here with nothing
but I left with everything

your faith is only as strong as the words you speak..so speak

Savannah: A Map of Perceptions

This is a project that I just turned in for my Graphics for Building Arts class. The idea was to convey entry, path, and place in Savannah through a series of maps and renderings.

The first one highlights places of entry in my journey to Savannah.

This one shows cultural and recreational places

This one shows recreational, cultural, and historical path.

And this is a more detailed show of a place.

My Crazy Life

Due to the craziness that has taken over my life already this quarter I haven't been updating very often. So... here is a quick update on whats been happening recently.
God has definitely been blessing my life so far this quarter. He has given me several incredible opportunities with my work. My 2D professor from my first quarter at SCAD contacted me this last week to say that I was chosen to have my poster design showcased at a local coffee shop during the month of May :) And this same poster has been accepted into the SCAD honors show which is such a great opportunity. Needless to say it has been one insane weekend between photographing, printing, filling out entry forms, and doing class projects.
My graphics for building arts class (the 5 1/2 hour one) is keeping me busy as well. The first assignment was 30 sketches over the course of three days... yikes. I will try to upload some pictures from that if things ever slow down a bit :) Anyways, I am enjoying that class immensely despite the work load.
I am sure there is more that I am leaving out, but thats pretty much my weekend in a nutshell. Hopefully I will have time in the next week to post some pics of what has been happening!

It's Official

I have one more day left of the longest quarter ever! I could not be more relieved.
My final 3D project is finished and I present tomorrow.
In the first part of the project, the concept was to create wearable art based on a narrative of a character. We could make up any character we wanted on which to base our piece. My character is a 1940's army wife whose husband has been called to World War II. The concept for my dress came from the idea of newspaper headlines about the war and the letters that they would send back and forth to one another. There are also photos which signify her memories before and during the war.
The second part involved a kinetic element (anything that moves) So basically my piece had to have pronounced movement when being worn.

Note: I suck at taking self portraits....

Whistle While You Work

A couple weeks ago I modeled for a photo shoot and being that I don't understand the meaning of "pack light" I took more than half my closet with me... just to make sure that we had all our options. Therefore, my room has been a wreck ever since. (whats new)
Today was cleaning day!

My "lets get to work" hair do

It hasn't looked this good in a long while :)

3D: Line and Plane

The challenge was to create an illuminated 3D sculpture using line and plane.
The sculpture had to be 2' - 4' (Mine is about 4)

Here are my original plans...

...But as you can see, things changed a bit.

Now my only problem is to figure out weather to leave it white or give it a color. What do you think?

Singing Hallelujah

Every day you greet me
And every day I see you
But the sparkle in my eye
For you has waned
Picking up old melodies
Of songs from my old memories
Trying hard to keep
The sparkle warm

But I'm singing hallelujah
I'm singing hallelujah
I'm still singing hallelujah
To the Lord
But I'm singing hallelujah
I'm singing hallelujah
I'm still singing hallelujah
To the Lord

Children in the streets
Are playing hockey
With their feet
And it's looking more
Like soccer to me now
I can still remember
When you warmed me
That december
In the glow of all the family
You brought 'round
And we were

Singing hallelujah
Singing hallelujah
We were singing hallelujah
To the Lord
We were singing hallelujah
Singing hallelujah
Singing hallelujah
To the Lord

But there's something
In the singing
That keeps bringing
Me back to you
So as long as
I can sing it
I'll be bringing
It up to You

I'll be singing hallelujah
Singing hallelujah
I'll be singing hallelujah
To the Lord
I'll be singing hallelujah
Singing hallelujah
I'll be singing hallelujah
To the Lord

It's A Game I Call... Up Up With A Fish

This is the fun nursery that I painted over break :)

Long Time, No Post...

...But better late than never.

I am SO glad to be back in Savannah and back to my regular routine.
Break was great :) And greatly needed. It was nice to spend time with everyone back home.
Now I begin the long stretch of things (two quarters in a row without going home... yikes!)
In other news:
I am so thankful to have met some great Christian girls here at SCAD. We met to study God's Word on Saturday and it was great time of fellowship with each other!

Here are some pics taken in the cold Iowa air :)
